Sorry for the EXTREMELY late post everyone. This is from two weeks ago, better late than never right? Here you go!
Once again, our fearless art class leader nourished and cultivated the best in us. This week we used stencils inspired by a blog post from yours truly. Except they weren’t stencils that you would typically buy in a store. Instead she proved to us that you LITERALLY can make stencils out of anything. Seriously. Get this, we made stencils out of blue painters tape!!
We painted a watercolor background from a vibrant watercolor palette. Cut shapes from the blue painters tape and applied them to our background. We could have made any shape, I happened to like the piece she had made herself and wanted to use the idea. So I made trees. After applying the tape stencils we painted over the entire piece with white acrylic paint. Once that was dried, we pulled the stencils off. WOW did it look different! We were then instructed to add dimension and detail to the piece with black marker. Kind of like doing zentangles (in case you have no idea what a zentangle is, here is a link zentangle).
Such a beautiful idea and what a work of art! Why don’t we all try to do this very thing this week and post what we come up with. Mine is up top, what does yours look like? Below, I have added the works of the other gals in the class. Sorry that I cannot remember exactly who’s is who’s. Will be posting again soon, happy journaling!
