Hi all!
In this journal prompt we started with paint splatter or drip for our background, topped off with our main focal point by drawing our interpretation of our worst hair day ever. Next we were to write about how we felt that day and if we would do things differently why or why not. Then add texture and other elements (such as magazine clippings, scrapbook paper, sand, doilies, burlap, etc…) as we see fit.
In my interpretation, I started off with a watercolor paper for my media. Used gouache in grey for a watercolor wash. Then used gouache in ultramarine and Crimson to do a quick zig zag in watercolor. Followed by acrylic paint splatter in pink blast and turquoise.
Once I had my background done, I did a quick sketch of a girl with her hair standing on end. She looks so enthused doesn’t she? LOL After all of that wonderful pretty stuff was done, I laid pen to paper and journal-ed my worst hair day ever experience. Now if you want, you can opt to write this out in really big sloppy cursive or do another wash with maybe an absorbent ground if you dont want anyone to see what you wrote. The sloppy cursive makes it hard for people to read and the absorbent ground washes the image out to make it harder to see.
The acrylic paint I use is Craft Smart which can be found at Michaels. The gouache is by Reeves and was also found at Michaels. If you are looking for absorbent ground, you can try to find it at Michaels or you can look here on Amazon.
